Thanks for all your work!

Even if post frequency approaches zero, I occasionally finy myself looking up or sending links to old articles so it would be nice if the content at least remained available (even if comments are disabled). The post quality is quite good!

Agreed as well, this site actually just helped me figure some stuff out with iptables and nat!

Hope this doesn't go down, or at least is archived in some way to preserve current information.

When searching for a solution to any configuration problem if debian-administration appears in the first page of search results I will often read it first in preference to other more highly ranked results as the articles/blog posts tend to be more informative than other sources (more detail, background information etc).

To me at least, debian-administration is still a useful source of information and it would be a real shame to see it go.

Perhaps I should be "putting my time where my mouth is" and submitting content myself... If only it was more obvious to me what other people would find useful that I have already done! Everything is easy once you already know how...

PS I am here today to find different methods of supporting multiple domains in exim when using DKIM signing! First search, first result and I have found what looks like a perfectly good method of doing so! (and then i noticed the poll).

While some of the articles are getting long in the tooth, there are still plenty of highly useful pages here.

In many respects the problem is that Debian is so stable and predictable these days that there aren't as many problems that need useful tips to fix any more.

When people do present articles they are still well worth reading.

I did learn *a lot* through this site, and even if it's been a while since the most active times, in my learning alone in front of a computer I still find few times references with the same quality, and encouragement for people alone to archive complex tasks with a debian running machine. I understand I have not been the only one thriughout those years. I really apreciated and made use of your efforts.
If you plan to stop running the site, it would be nice to still run a "final version" on spare machine!

I think that would probably always be the case - if the site ever did retire I'd output a static set of pages for all prior posts and polls, remove logins, and serve them from a single machine.

Weblogs too I guess.

This answer was pretty easy: since it costs zero to me, I'll always say I'd rather want more than less! :-)

Why this slavish focus on Windoze, why does the author assume that the online machine is a Windoze machine and why the sudo fsck doesn't he include in Step 2 the instructions for downloading to an online Linux machine?

Fsck is a Linux command so don't you dare classify this as "inappropriate".

You have done a really wonderful job.
if hosting charges etc bothering you, then these manuals can be put on github.com and then debian-administration.github.io can be th website.
Also people who will want to update the individual manuals, they can just fork and merge the branch of yours.
So there will be no hosting etc charges and maintainence issues for you and also the website will become a self-sustainable baby, living even after removal of the parent support.

I hope this stays open, I refer people to it all the time. Many of the articles , all though old, still apply. I never thought about registering, but since there was this call for votes, I decided to register, also.

The fact that people (including myself) are even taking the time to vote (plus or minus) would suggest staying open; after all we came here looking for something.

Absolutely, this site should stay open! I consider myself a newbie to Debian and even Linux in general. There is always much more to learn. Over the last year I have converted all my home machines to Debian so now I am learning at a much faster rate. As soon as my skills are up to par for me to submit an article I will try to contribute in the areas I find lacking and give something back to Debian community.

Yes, please...! I have only known of Debian since the last few months of Squeeze, (gee, things got easier for a newbie with Wheezy!) But I have missed out on witnessing the journey before then, it's great to have all this still around today.
Thank you for the effort involved in keeping here.
bye for now, jonathon
