The author has ripped off Chapter 4 of "Knoppix Hacks" and has, sadly, successfully sold it ot various linux sites.

[ Parent ]

I am really sorry if the author is said

This is an almost word-for-word copy of Knoppix Hacks Chapter 4. Apparently you didn't get the memo that stealing is wrong. Get a clue you dumbass.

[ Parent ]

I have not copied it entirely

If i was guilty then i should omit the author from the reference section but i included the author name and book published in the reference section.MAJID HAMEED BSCS Department Of Computer Science THE UNIVERSITY OF KARACHI

Given the comments posted here I've really no option than to remove this article.

It saddens me this action has become necessary given the site itself has been in existance for less than three months.

I strongly suggest you remove remove the article from any other sites to which you may have posted it - if the comments are any indication to go on there may be more.

Plagiarized from Knoppix Hacks
Posted by Anonymous (127.0.xx.xx) on Tue 28 Dec 2004 at 20:32
It was nicer the first time I read it--in Knoppix Hacks. This "article" was directly copied word-for-word from Knoppix Hacks (the introduction to Chapter 4, Hack #2, and Hack #34). Maybe after you get your CS degree, you can take an English course or two to learn what plagiarism is.

[ Parent ]

It is not entirely pasted

Funny, I still see "by Majid Hameed" in bright bold letters at the end of the article, indicating that Mr. Hameed is taking credit for words, sentences, turns of phrase, etc that he did not come up with. Maybe Mr. Hameed should acquaint himself with the case of Doris Kearns Goodwin to better understand what plagiarism means. Or maybe, he should stop attempting to "write" articles using other people's words and ideas.

Your article is credited to you despite your inability to tell readers what parts you've taken from other sources.

Since you seem rather dense, here are some links where you can learn what you're doing wrong: Indiana University, Georgetown University, Purdue University, UC Davis
